How it works:
The working principle of the foam pump is based on centrifugal force and a special gas-liquid separation mechanism. When the pump is started, the impeller rotates at high speed, forming a strong centrifugal field inside the pump chamber. After the foam-containing slurry is sucked into the pump chamber, the foam and liquid are thrown to the edge of the pump chamber under the action of centrifugal force. Due to the relatively low density of the foam, it is easier to gather in the upper area of the pump chamber under the action of centrifugal force, while the heavier liquid is mainly concentrated in the lower part of the pump chamber. The initial separation of foam and liquid is achieved through the uniquely designed channels and structures inside the pump body. The separated liquid is discharged along the outlet pipe of the pump under the push of the impeller, while the foam is discharged from the pump body through the special foam discharge port, thus completing the conveying and separation process of the foam slurry.

Structural features:
1. Double pump casing structure
- Foam pumps usually adopt a double pump casing design, i.e., inner pump casing and outer pump casing. The inner pump casing is in direct contact with the slurry and is subjected to the scouring and wear of the slurry. Therefore, materials with excellent wear resistance, such as high chromium alloy and rubber, are often used to ensure its service life. The outer pump casing plays the role of protecting the inner pump casing and supporting the entire pump body structure. It is generally made of cast iron or cast steel and has high strength and stability. The double pump casing structure not only enhances the overall strength and durability of the pump, but also facilitates the replacement of the inner pump casing when the inner pump casing is worn or damaged, reducing maintenance costs and downtime.
2. Special impeller design
- The design of its impeller is unique, and it mostly adopts open or semi-open impellers. The blade shape and angle are optimized to adapt to the characteristics of the foam slurry. This impeller structure can effectively reduce the adhesion and accumulation of foam on the impeller, while allowing larger solid particles to pass through, avoiding impeller blockage and ensuring the normal operation of the pump. In addition, the material of the impeller has also been carefully selected, which must have good wear resistance and be able to resist corrosion from chemicals in the slurry to a certain extent.
3. Foam separation device
- The pump body is equipped with a special foam separation device, which is one of the key structures that distinguishes the foam pump from other types of pumps. The device is usually located in the upper part of the pump cavity. Through the reasonably designed baffles, guide plates and separation chambers, the density difference between foam and liquid and the effect of centrifugal force are used to achieve efficient separation of foam and liquid. The separated foam can be discharged smoothly from the foam discharge port to prevent the foam from accumulating in the pump, thereby affecting the performance and stability of the pump.
4. Sealing structure
- Since the slurry transported by the foam pump may be corrosive and abrasive, its sealing structure is crucial. Generally, mechanical seals or high-quality packing seals are used, and the sealing materials are selected from corrosion-resistant and wear-resistant materials, such as silicon carbide, graphite, etc., to ensure that the pump can effectively prevent slurry leakage during operation, protect the components inside the pump body and the external environment, and reduce the number and cost of repairs caused by seal failure.
